Braised Pork over Rice

Ingredients for braised pork over rice:


Oven Method

  1. Preheat oven to 300F
  2. Blanch the diced pork (2 minutes)
  3. Heat sugar and oil and saute with pork (10 minutes)
  4. Add the shallots and garlic (5 minutes)
  5. Add soy sauce, five-spice, rice wine, star anise, cinnamon and pepper (10 minutes)
  6. Add in fried shallots and water
  7. Bake for 2.5 hours at 300F
  8. Move to the stovetop and boil on medium for 30 minutes
  9. Serve over rice. Top with green onions

Stovetop Method

  1. Fry minced pork, shallots, and garlic
  2. Add soy sauce, five-spice, rice wine, star anise, cinnamon, and pepper (10 minutes)
  3. Add in fried shallots, water, and hard-boiled eggs.
  4. Cover on medium heat (20 minutes)
  5. Add a dash of cooking wine (5 minutes)
  6. Serve over rice
